Powering critical infrastructure beneath the Hudson

A new Hudson River tunnel project demanded flawless electrical infrastructure on an unforgiving timeline. With only a single-line diagram at bid stage and no finalized specifications, Turtle stepped into a design-development role, coordinating across a multi-party joint venture to finalize 15kV and 38kV switchgear configurations while maintaining strict utility conformance.

Through early production slot management and disciplined manufacturer coordination during a period of extended industry lead times, the team delivered all switchgear ahead of schedule without expediting premiums or schedule penalties.

The result: a multi-million dollar program executed without disruption on one of the region’s most publicly sensitive infrastructure projects, reinforcing that on high-visibility work, predictability is performance.

Smart modernization for a world-renowned landmark

When a landmark art institution set out to modernize its lighting and electrical systems, the goal was clear: improve efficiency and reliability without disrupting the integrity of decades-old infrastructure.

Turtle led a full LED lighting retrofit and replaced an aging Challenger distribution board from the 1980s, carefully integrating new systems within tight spatial constraints. Working closely with consulting engineers, Eaton, and the local utility, Turtle coordinated design, manufacturing, and project logistics to keep every stakeholder aligned.

The result: a modernized power distribution backbone, improved lighting quality and energy performance, and a project delivered on schedule while preserving the museum’s existing infrastructure

Ivy league sustainability

A Northeast Ivy League university’s century-old building represented both a historic treasure and an energy challenge. The university needed to modernize the electrical infrastructure while preserving the architectural integrity that makes the building an iconic landmark.

Our team provided customized LED lighting solutions and critical switchgear that transformed energy consumption while enhancing the building’s historic features. Through expert project management and carefully timed material delivery, we helped blend 21st-century efficiency with 20th-century architectural grandeur.

Today, students and faculty experience the building’s historic atmosphere enhanced by intelligent lighting that consumes a fraction of the energy, demonstrating how preservation and sustainability can work in harmony.

Next-gen EV manufacturing

The ambitious timeline for a cutting-edge electric vehicle manufacturing plant faced a critical threat: global supply chain disruptions threatened to delay construction of this sustainability-focused facility. With specialized components and materials in short supply worldwide, the project’s momentum hung in the balance.

Turtle stepped in with innovative procurement strategies and logistical expertise, ensuring on-demand delivery of essential materials like cable tray and medium- and low-voltage cables. Our team’s ability to navigate supply chain challenges and implement creative sourcing solutions kept construction moving forward despite the obstacles.

Today, this manufacturing facility stands as a cornerstone of America’s electric vehicle production capacity, transforming how vehicles are built while reducing the environmental impact of both the manufacturing process and the end products. Our behind-the-scenes role helped accelerate the transition to sustainable transportation through infrastructure that enables innovation.
