Celebrating 95 Years in Business

POSTED BY TURTLE & HUGHES COMMUNICATIONS BLOG IN PERSPECTIVES

On Monday, January 29, Turtle & Hughes marked its 95th year in business and we will be celebrating our founders, our employees and our remarkable company all year long —  starting next month by giving visitors to our website a chance to win a $95 gift card. Keep checking turtle.com for details.

Most of all, we want to thank our valued customers who have made our company what it is today. We are grateful for the continued opportunity to bring you quality products and services that are critical to your own growth and success.

In 1923, founders M. Berry Turtle, great grandfather of current Chairman and CEO Jayne Millard, and Bill Hughes started with just one truck rolling through the narrow streets of lower Manhattan, delivering electrical supplies to local small businesses and commercial accounts. Together, they managed through the Great Depression, and when founder Bill Hughes met an untimely death in 1935, M. Berry Turtle pushed the company forward on his own.

From these humble beginnings, we’ve grown to become a leader in our industry. We’ve done this by building a thriving culture around a set of Core Values that reflect our rich heritage and, above all,  that require our employees to deliver exceptional service. From our inception, our customers have always been our #1 priority and our employee-owners have been our greatest asset by continually delivering on that promise.

A clear understanding of our past is one of the most powerful tools we have for shaping the future. That is why, throughout the year, we are excited to share stories that celebrate our past and the extraordinary employees who have made it possible for us to reach this milestone. We hope you will join us on this journey through history.
